My clients, expecting their first baby, envisioned maternity photos on the beach. Even though it was the middle of February, they didn’t let the cold stop them. Instead, they embraced the adventure, creating a breathtaking session filled with warmth, love, and a little creative planning.

A North Shore Couple’s Babymoon Escape

Once they decided to go to the Cape for their maternity session, this couple from the North Shore of Boston, decided to make a beautiful even of it and celebrate their babymoon with a quiet getaway on Cape Cod. With its wide-open beaches and stunning coastal light, it was the perfect location—except for one small challenge: winter. But when we talked and they shared their vision, I knew we could make it work.

Making the Cold Look Effortless

On the day of the shoot, the high was a brisk 40 degrees, but you’d never know it from the photos! We came prepared: hand warmers tucked into pockets (and a bra! Ha!), a thick, chunky knit blanket to wrap around them between shots, and strategic posing to keep them cozy while capturing the intimate, windswept beauty of the shore. The golden light reflecting off the winter waves made for the dreamiest backdrop.
