What do you get when you put a 2 year old, a 4 year old and a 15 mile an hour wind on the beach with a family photographer on Cape Cod?

In a world of curated moments, I am so grateful when I get to showcase a family just being themselves as they connect, and love on each other. Crazy hair don’t care rules! It brings intensity, movement and motion to some precious moments.

Sure, we have styled them to look their best for their photoshoot, but there are still favorite colors, organic fabrics, and along with a little dose of special is that dose of “us as we really are.”

The wind was whipping but the day was an absolutely gorgeous Cape Cod summer’s day and memories were made! Winding down grassy sea paths to secret coves, building sand castles for crabs (crab castles?) or just enjoying the feeling of beach sand running through fingers and toes. Spinning, running, resting, snuggling. These are the days they’ve grown up with! Definitely the days to remember…

Embrace the imperfect

As a family photographer on Cape Cod I experience all kinds of weather, get to meet all kinds of people, and enjoy allll the beach days! The easygoing joy of this family really made this a session to remember and I absolutely cannot wait for next time!

In the meantime, I really want to encourage families to embrace the moment. There is always a reason to not do something. It’s too windy, or it’s a bit chilly, or someone is tired. However, I have yet to have a family who didn’t show up anyway. Unsurprisingly to me, they absolutely thrived and loved the experience, embracing cuddles that draw out the smiles. They let the wind whip their hair and let their laughter roar with the wind! Life is so precious. Embrace all of it.
